Pont Sur Sambre Power SAS and Toul Power SAS operate two combined cycle power plants (gas and steam turbines – CCGT) of latest technology with 825MW combined capacity, equivalent to the consumption of 800,000 households..
Second largest non-incumbent and 4th overall largest French electricity producer, PSS Power and Power Toul operate independently on the French market, and are 100% owned by the investment fund KKR.
The innovative combined cycle technology is particularly efficient from the environmental perspective (60% reduction of CO2 emissions per MWh compared to a coal power plant). In fact it combines the use of an efficient input, natural gas, and high-efficiency of the combined Gas and Steam cycles, recycling the heat generated by gas combustion cycle in the steam cycle.
Moreover thanks to their flexibility PSS Power and Power Toul are able to be mobilized quickly to adapt to real-time production needs. PSS Power and Power Toul contribute to securing the continuity of electricity supply in France, particularly during winter peak demand. This flexibility is a strong ecological asset to support the growth of intermittent renewable energy.
